The  2017 National Sevens Circuit season is drawing to a close. The final whistle goes off this long weekend at the close of the Dala Sevens cup final at the ASK Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu City.

It has been a great  circuit, a chance to enjoy the good ol’ game of rugby, a chance for budding talent to shine, and a merry making opportunity for the fans. The very fact that it has traversed different counties has been a great opportunity for those down in the counties to experience the famed rugby moments.

To some players, it has presented a chance to shine with the hope of making the cut for the national 7s team for the upcoming season. To others, the circuit enabled them to return to their roots; where it first began.

For the fans, the circuit created euphoric moments especially when the cups were won by different participating teams up to the fourth round of the circuit.

It all began in the coastal city of Mombasa where Menengai Cream Homeboyz made away with the Driftwood title after a 17-7 win over Nakuru. Resolution Impala Saracens would then retain the Kabeberi Sevens title with a 22-5 win over the Menengai Oilers while
KCB won the Prinsloo Sevens with a 29-5 win over hosts Top Fry Nakuru.

As had been the trend throughout the 2017 National Sevens Circuit, we saw a fourth different winner in the form of Kabras Sugar who posted a 26-7 win over Impala to claim the Sepetuka Sevens. It was Kabras who then bucked the trend, winning a second tournament, the Christie Sevens, with a 19-7 win over Impala

The anticipation is high heading into Dala with Kabras, Impala and Homeboyz in contention for not only the cup title at Dala, but the National Sevens Circuit overall title as well the We can’t wait to see how this will unfold. We also look forward to seeing the stars that will have shone the brightest to be singled out to join Shujaa ahead of their upcoming assignments for the 2017/18 season.
This is definitely a journey worth the travel. Let’s travel on to the end.
