Kisii’s Gusii Stadium recently played host to a Get Into Rugby festival. The event, held on Saturday 4 November saw young rugby enthusiasts and potential players turn up in droves to try, play and enjoy the session.
The end goal was to eventually convert these enthusiasts into players, very much in line with the key aim of the program which is to encourage players of all ages to Try, Play and Stay in Rugby.
KRU’s Age Grade and Women’s Rugby Coordinator Nicholas Aballa said, ” We were encouraged by the turnout and reception in Kisii. This is a region with lots of potential and while the main focus of this particular festival was to see the kids have fun, there is plenty that can be built from in this region, especially when you consider that we now have a team from the region, Kisii RFC, playing in the highest level of league competition in Kenya. We believe this can further spur interest, growth and development of the game in this part of Kenya.”
