Ground-Breaking Retreat Held For National Squads Management

The Kenya Rugby Union, in conjunction with Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM), held a two day National Squads Management retreat in Nairobi on 29th and 30th June.

In attendance were the management teams from the national U20s, fifteens, sevens and women’s squads, as well as representation from the Kenya Rugby Union through Honorary Secretary Oduor Gangla, CEO Ronald Bukusi and Director of Rugby Thomas Odundo.

The participants were taken through sessions in people management and conflict resolution, budget and resource management, the obligations of the professional athlete and being in a professional sports set up. They then proceeded to create presentations and plans based on the sessions and shared these to the retreat during the interactive sessions on day two.

It was a ground breaking, eye opening experience for all the attendants and it is envisaged that it will lead to a better understanding of roles as well as an overall improvement in all aspects of service delivery, on and off the field of play.
