Menengai Cream Homeboyz stayed on course for a successful title defense after reaching the cup quarterfinal at the fifth round of the Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit, the Silverstone Dala Sevens at the Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu. The deejays finihsed top of Pool D with a 22-7 win over Nondescripts who also sailed through to the last eight.

KCB finished top of Pool C with a 22-10 victory over Kabras Sugar. The sugarmen were lucky to reach the last eight after finishing level on points with Northern Suburbs, the mathematics working in their favor.

Menengai Oilers were moments away from hitting the cup quarters, leading 17-10 against Stanbic Mwamba until Daniel Taabu’s last gasp converted try saw Kulabu secure a 17-17 draw to top Pool B, Resolution Impala Saracens fortuitously claiming second place in the pool.

A 22-19 win over Top Fry Nakuru saw Quins post their second successive win, reaching the cup quarterfinal with a game to spare. Also reaching the last eight in Kisumu was Stanbic Mwamba who coasted to a 24-7 victory over Resolution Impala Saracens and KCB who were 22-5 winners over Northern Suburbs. Nondescripts and Menengai Cream Homeboyz also made the cup quarterfinals with 31-7 and 41-0 wins over MKU Thika and hosts Silverstone Kisumu respectively.

Kenya Harlequin started the Silverstone Dala Sevens with a resounding 45-5 Pool A win over Resolution Kisii. There were also wins for Top Fry Nakuru, Resolution Impala Saracens, Stanbic Mwamba and KCB while Northern Suburbs held pre-match favorites Kabras Sugar to a 17-17 draw. Defending champions and current Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit leaders Menengai Cream Homeboyz posted a 46-0 victory over MKU Thika while KCB and Nondescripts also won their opening fixtures.
