Record numbers attend Embu officiating course

The Kenya Rugby Union held a two day Level 1 course in officiating at the Kangaru School in Embu.

The course, held on 24th and 25th February was conducted by World Rugby Educator Sammy Kariuki and  attracted a record number of participants, 38 in total, (33 men and 5 women) drawn from Embu RFC as well as a group of teachers sponsored by the Embu County Government.

Kariuki said, ” This course is an introduction to match officiating and it was of great help to those intent on working as match officials in both variations of the game. The turnout was twice the numbers we receive at previous courses and it is my hope that all the participants utilize the knowledge and skills in further aiding the growth of the game in Kenya.”
