Kenya Lionesses Have Built A Great Rugby Brand, Says KRU Chairman
As the Kenya Lionesses squad that shall be representing the Nation was named by the Head Coach Felix Oloo, the KRU Chairman Oduor Gangla, Vice Chairman Thomas Opiyo and the Director in Charge of Women's rugby Moses Ndale graced the occasion.
Chairman started off with thanking the engine behind the Lionesses success thus far, the management that comprises of Felix Oloo, Samuel Njogu, Ben Mahinda and Camilyne Oyuayo for their work. He applauded the team's spirit and their determination to fly the Kenyan flag high as they head to the World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa.
"A great number of people know about the Lionesses, you have built a good brand and you're playing attractive rugby that has a lot of people sitting and enjoying your "easy on the eyes" style of play," said the Chairman.
He encouraged the ladies who did not make it to the final list of 26 players by reminding them that they have played an integral role in the team's preparations and they remain part of the set up. He also gave a special mention to the team Captain who has been a great leader and servant of the sport.
The Lionesses depart for South Africa on 7th August and they will kick off their campaign against Madagascar on 9th August, 13th August will see The Lionesses face Uganda Lady Cranes for the third time this year before wrapping up the tournament against hosts South Africa on 17th.
