The race for the Sportpesa National 7s Circuit overall title is going down to the wire after Kabras Sugar and KCB reached the cup quarterfinals at the season ending Kabeberi 7s on Saturday.

Kabras, circuit leaders on 92 points were staring elimination from the cup quarters after a tentative start to their Pool C campaign, defeating Daystar Falcons 22-7 in their opening fixture and drawing 17-17 with Masinde Muliro.

A loss against Mwamba would have seen them miss out on the cup quarterfinals and the overall title but Felix Ayange’s side came good, defeating the hosts 21-10 to claim pole position and a place in the last eight alongside Mwamba.

KCB eased through their opening two Pool D fixtures, defeating Moi University Arsonists 50-0 and the Catholic Monks 35-7 before being made to work for the 17-7 result over the Menengai Oilers. The two sides remain took the top positions in the pool.

Top seeds Nondescripts sailed through from Pool A, winning all three of their matches, 12-7 against Kenya Harlequin, 26-10 against the Tessen Sports Warriors and 22-10 against Blak Blad. Quins finished second in the pool, bouncing back from the loss to Nondies to defeat Blak Blad 31-5 and Tessen Sports Warriors 28-12/

Nakuru and Strathmore claimed the top positions in Pool B. They shared a 5-5 draw before Nakuru defeated Impala 40-5 while the Leos were 33-5 winners over the same opponent. Kisumu were a no show and gave away three walkovers.
