The cup quarterfinal pairing at the Tisap 7s is now known following completion of the preliminary rounds at the Eldoret Sports Club on Saturday 2 September 2023.

KCB will play Menengai Oilers while Nondescripts will take on Kisumu as Strathmore Leos duel Blak Blad. Kabras Sugar will face Mwamba in the fourth cup quarterfinal.

KCB defeated Blak Blad 28-0 to finish top of Pool A. The varsity students also made the last eight despite the loss by virtue of finishing second in the pool.

Menengai Oilers were staring elimination with time up until Elkeans Musonye scored a try at the death in the 7-5 loss  to Strathmore Leos. Musonye’s try lifted Oilers to second place in Pool B with the Leos topping the pool. Catholic Monks were unlucky to miss out on cup quarterfinal qualification despite two wins and one loss, their inferior points difference proving to be their Achilles heel.

Kabras Sugar and Kisumu qualified from Pool C. The sugarmen finished top of the pool after defeating Kenya Harlequin 12-5, a result that saw Kisumu through to the last eight on Sunday.

Nondescripts made it three wins from three with a 26-19 result over the University of Eldoret Trojans to top Pool D. They were joined in the last eight by Mwamba who defeated Nakuru 19-7 in their final pool fixture.

Homeboyz and Masinde Muliro will battle in the first Challenge Trophy quarterfinal with Nakuru facing Daystar Falcons as Catholic Monks take on Mombasa with Kenya Harlequin battling UoE Trojans.
