Wambua upbeat as Lionesses train eyes on series qualifier

Following last week’s HSBC Women’s Sevens World Series qualifier draw ,Head Coach Kevin Wambua is upbeat about his side’s chances ahead of the action which takes place on 5-6 April in Hong Kong.

Banded with continental rivals South Africa, Mexico and Papua New Guinea in Pool A, Wambua feels that his side has a realistic chance of returning to the cup quarters and challenging from there.

“We are in a balanced pool and other than Papua New Guinea, we have faced Mexico and South Africa
before and are positive that , based on the work we have constantly been putting in, we shall return the results on day one requisite to first qualify for the quarters and challenge from there heading into the knockouts.”

The Lionesses will begin their campaign on Thursday 5 April with a clash against Papua New Guinea at 5.30am before playing Mexico at 8.04am and South Africa at 11.00am.
