Registration to participate in the 2026 Prescott Cup is officially open, and the Kenya Rugby Union invites secondary schools across the country to be part of this historic and prestigious schools rugby competition.
Established in 1962, the Prescott Cup stands as one of Kenya’s longest running and most respected school rugby tournaments. Over the decades, it has played a pivotal role in rugby talent development, with more than 80% of players who have represented Kenya Shujaa and the Kenya Simbas having passed through the high school rugby system—many of them cutting their teeth in the Prescott Cup.
Participation in the tournament offers schools far more than matchday action. Registered schools benefit from national exposure through weekly Kenya Rugby Union media coverage, access to internationally recognised training and certification for teachers and coaches, and support in strengthening the delivery of sports education under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Players also gain from enhanced development opportunities through increased competition, improved coaching standards, and inclusion in national talent databases, opening pathways to scholarships and elite rugby programmes.
The 2026 Prescott Cup will run from 4th May to 20th June 2026, with schools grouped into regional clusters to minimise travel costs. Final fixtures will be confirmed during a physical planning meeting scheduled for 1st April 2026 at the Kenya Rugby Union offices, to be attended by representatives from all registered schools.
Schools wishing to participate are required to submit a completed registration form via the link below by 31st March 2026:
