On Tuesday 3rd June 2025, the Kenya Simbas made the 5-6 hour journey to Mossel Bay to play the SWD Eagles in the second of their scheduled training matches in South Africa. The match ended in 17-17 in what was a more improved performance from their last meeting back in 2022 where SWD Eagles won 24-7.
“There was very bad weather conditions at Mossel Bay and after around 20 minutes, SWD Eagles went uncontested in the scrums for safety following an injury. This took a lot from us in terms of our attacking platforms and how we want to play as Simbas.
We are just happy with the game time and despite the bad weather, the boys tried to stick to the structure we have put in place. We had quite a-number-of opportunities, but the slippery ball cost us many opportunities and we obviously need to adapt to the cold, rainy and, windy weather as we continue with our preparations,” Said Jerome Paarwater.
The only set piece the team could focus on was the lineout maul and for the better part of the game they were unable to do the scrums.
Griffin Musila goes over the whitewash, conversion is unsuccessful.

“We look forward to the next challenge on Monday with the SA u20 as we are still testing our combinations to get to the starting 15.” concluded Jerome.
Kenya’s try scorers were Samuel Ovwamu, Griffin Musila and Ibrahim Ayoo with Brian Wahinya drilling in one conversion.
Their next assignment is on 9th June when they take on the Junior Boks in Stellenbosch.
