The Kenya Lionesses, the national women’s rugby team, will be conducting open trials in Kakamega on the 11th and 12th of September at the Kakamega ASK Showgrounds.
The two-day trials, which will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both days, are specifically targeting players based in the Western and Nyanza regions. This initiative is aimed at giving talented players from these areas an opportunity to showcase their skills and stake a claim for a place in the provisional national squad.
The Lionesses technical bench has emphasized the importance of widening the player pool, ensuring that rugby talent across the country is identified and nurtured. The trials provide a platform for previously untapped talent to earn recognition at the highest level. This effort underscores the Kenya Rugby Union’s commitment to growing women’s rugby at the grassroots and strengthening the Lionesses’ competitiveness on the international stage.
