Willy Ambaka reached a career milestone, scoring his 100th World Series try as Kenya started their Hong Kong Sevens campaign with a 33-10 Pool B win over Canada.

Canada went ahead through Conor Braid’s unconverted effort but Sammy Oliech responded in kind to level up scores before converting Andrew Amonde’s try that saw Kenya lead 12-5 at the interval.

Pat Kay added a second for the Canadians as they came to within two points of the Kenyans before Billy Odhiambo showed great presence of mind to release the ball on the tackle, Collins Injera scoring his 251st World Series try, Agero converting for a 19-10 score.

Nelson Oyoo then set up Ambaka to land a five pointer that granted him entry to the centurion’s club, Agero sure with the conversion before Oyoo helped himself to a try, Agero converting to cap off a comfortable win for Shujaa who now face Spain in their second fixture at 8.10am on Saturday morning.
