As the countdown gathers pace to the inaugural leg of the 2026 HSBC SVNS2, Kenyan rugby has received a timely boost following Crown Paints’ sponsorship of the tournament with a 2 million Kenya Shillings commitment. The event is set to light up Nyayo Stadium on the 14th and 15th of February, marking a historic moment as Kenya hosts the inaugural leg of the competition.

The partnership was officially unveiled on 28th January at the RFUEA Grounds in a ceremony that brought together key stakeholders from both Crown Paints and the Kenya Rugby Union. Beyond the figures, the collaboration signals shared belief in the power of rugby to inspire communities and elevate the local sporting scene.

Speaking during the launch, Crown Paints Chief Operations Officer Richard Muturi reflected on the journey that led to the partnership, noting that it had been built steadily over the last year. “This journey began a year ago and it has been a very positive one,” he said, adding that Crown Paints was excited and honoured to be part of Kenya hosting the inaugural leg of the HSBC SVNS2. Muturi also wished the Kenya Lionesses and Shujaa well, while expressing confidence in the organising committee to deliver a successful tournament. He pointed out that the sponsorship goes beyond financial support, stressing that brand involvement in community development is something Crown Paints takes great pride in.

Kenya Rugby Union Chairperson Harriet Okach welcomed Crown Paints back on board, describing the renewed support as a sign of trust and long term commitment to Kenyan rugby. She noted that the partnership had grown over time, from the World Series to Safari Sevens and now the HSBC SVNS2, a journey she said the union is deeply grateful for. According to Okach, such collaborations play a key role in strengthening the game and ensuring Kenya continues to host world class events.

With the backing of partners like Crown Paints, the stage is set for a memorable debut of the HSBC SVNS2 on home soil. All eyes now turn to Nyayo Stadium, where top tier rugby action and a celebration of the sport await fans in February.
