The 2025 Safari 7s ended on a high note for the home crowd as both Shujaa and the Kenya Lionesses lifted their respective titles, marking a memorable weekend of rugby brilliance at Nyayo Stadium.

Day Two of the tournament kicked off with intense quarterfinal clashes. Shujaa wasted no time asserting their dominance, cruising past Nyati with a 40-0 thrashing to secure a spot in the semifinals. Their compatriots, the Kenya Morans, also punched their ticket to the last four after a narrow 21-17 victory over UK Select.In the women’s category, the Kenya Lionesses continued their fine form, dispatching Mwamba Select 24-5 to progress to the semis. Unfortunately, it was heartbreak for the Kenya Cubs, who fell 34-0 to Uganda, bowing out of the competition.

The semifinals delivered a rollercoaster of emotions for Kenyan fans. The Morans bowed out after a narrow 14-12 loss to Shogun, ending their brave run in the tournament. However, Shujaa restored the fans’ joy with a commanding 29-19 win over Zimbabwe, securing their place in the grand finale.In the women’s semifinals, the Lionesses edged Shogun 12-10 in a tightly contested affair to set up a fiery final against Uganda. The final lived up to expectations, as the Lionesses battled fiercely to a 14-10 win, thrilling the crowd with their grit and determination. The victory crowned Kenya’s women’s side as 2025 Safari 7s champions.

Then came the grand finale — Shujaa vs. Shogun — a clash worthy of the stage. Shogun struck first with a converted try, but Nygel Amaitsa leveled the score for Shujaa just before halftime, converting his own try to make it 7-7.The second half was a tense affair, with both sides pushing hard for the winner. And when the clock ticked down, Floyd Wabwire danced past defenders with trademark flair to score a decisive centre-post try. Amaitsa’s conversion sealed a 14-7 victory, ensuring Shujaa successfully defended their Safari 7s crown.
