Shujaa kicked off their Hong Kong 7s campaign with their first match against Fiji on Friday 5th April with the defending Champions securing a 22-5 win.

In the first half, Fiji landed three tries in quick succession through Aminiasi Tuimaba, Vilimoni Botitu and Jerry Tuwai with Livai K. converting Botitu’s try. Fiji led 17-0 at the breather. Shujaa’s Captain scored the solitary try in the second half with the conversion sailing wide, Fiji however responded with their fourth and final try as Alasio Naduva went over the whitewash. Shujaa going down 5-22.

The second pool match was on Saturday 6th April and Shujaa again went down 36-0 to New Zealand. Despite Shujaa’s efforts in defense, they couldn’t hold off Joseva Ravouvou and Regan Ware who scored a brace each. Daniel Taabu’s attempt at landing Shujaa’s try was short lived as he was tackled into touch in the second half. The end result being a New Zealand try as Joe Webber sliced through two Shujaa defenders to score his side’s fifth try. A 30M pass to the New Zealand Captain extended their lead to 36-0 as he dotted down at the corner.

Shujaa will meet Australia at 11:33am EAT.
