Head Coach Kevin Wambua has named a 14-man squad that will represent Kenya in the South America legs of the HSBC SVNS 2 set to take place in Montevideo and São Paulo.

The squad heads into the tour with confidence after finishing third during the Nairobi leg of the series, a result that boosted their chances in the race for promotion to the main series.

Among the notable inclusions is Gabby Ayimba, who rejoins the side after missing the Nairobi leg. The team will be co-captained by George Ooro and Samuel Asati as they lead the side into the crucial South American assignments.

Speaking after naming the squad, head coach Wambua expressed confidence in the team’s preparations heading into the next legs of the competition.

I can say positively the boys have picked up well and hopefully heading into Montevideo, the goal is to remain in the top four and stand a chance to compete to get back to the main series. I believe the boys are up for the task,” said Wambua.

Co-captain Asati also emphasized the significance of the upcoming fixtures, noting the pride attached to the national sevens team.

Shujaa has always been the pride of Africa in rugby. Going back to the series would mean a lot to the country, and it will bring back the interest of Kenyans to continue watching the series,” said Asati.
