The Kenya Rugby U18 program has received a total of 50 training balls from Ingredion, an effort that goes a long way to ensure the future stars have equipment during their sessions.

Speaking at the launch of this partnership, U18 Coach Paul Odera thanked the Ingredion Team led by Ken Ouma who is the Business Director for Africa and the Middle East. “The support from Ingredion will help us during the regional U18 trials that we have scheduled to start in the middle of June. It is always great to have corporates coming in to support rugby and particularly when they support the youngsters. The U18 players are the feeder program for the U20 team who eventually transition to Simbas and Shujaa in the years to come.” said Odera.

KRU’s Ag. Chief Executive Officer Thomas Odundo thanked Ken Ouma and his team for their support. “This token will go a long way in the training, whenever we go across the country for tournaments, we meet people saying they want to play rugby and they need assistance in getting training/match balls. This partnership with Ingredion will enable the U18 program to reach teams all over the country.” said Odundo

“We also can’t underate the U18s rugby players, they’re a very impressionable age and even with  Shujaa’s victory in Madrid, I’m certain there are players who want to play rugby now more than ever.” he concluded.

“We are extremely proud to donate these rugby balls for Kenya Rugby Union Under 18 age group
development program. These balls represent more than just equipment, they symbolize hope, opportunity and
the promise of a brighter future for our youth playing rugby. The under 18 program serves as the bridge
between school and club rugby, it provides the platform for developing and nurturing players at the grassroots
level for our Shujaa 7s and Simbas XVs national teams.” Ken Ouma speaking at the launch

“We would like to extend our congratulations to KRU and the Shujaa 7s team for bringing Kenya back to the
global stage following Shujaa’s magnificent performance in Madrid, Spain yesterday. Recently Kenya also
qualified for the Olympics and the upcoming World Rugby U20 tournament, congratulations!!!
We wish Shujaas , Simbas and KRU all the best as they prepare for the upcoming assignments. Asante sana.” – Ken Ouma concluded.
