KCB RFC Crowned 2025 Driftwood 7s Champions 

KCB RFC are the 2025 Driftwood 7s champions after a commanding performance throughout the tournament that culminated in a hard-fought win over Strathmore Leos in the final. The bankers reclaimed the title they last won in 2019, marking a return to the top after narrowly missing out in last year’s edition.

KCB RFC topped Pool C with an unbeaten run in the group stages, showing early signs of their intent. In the quarterfinals, KCB thrashed Menengai Oilers, with a convincing 29-0 victory to secure a place in the semis. The semifinal match was a much-anticipated game with their long-standing rivals Kabras Sugar RFC, a clash that lived up to expectations. In a tightly contestedclash, KCB edged out Kabras with a narrow 10-5 win, booking their slot in the final.

In the final, KCB took on Strathmore Leos side, who had themselves impressed throughout the tournament. However, the bankers’ held off the university side to lift the 2025 Driftwood 7s title.

Speaking after the win, KCB head coach, Dennis Mwanja praised his team:
“The boys stuck to the game plan and showed great discipline throughout the tournament. It’s always special to win in Mombasa, and we’re proud to bring the Driftwood title back to KCB.”

The focus now shifts to the second leg of the circuit- Prinsloo in Nakuru from the 2nd – 3rd August 2025.
