On Sunday 7th September at the RFUEA Grounds, Thika Road-based side KCB Rugby claimed their third 2025 Sportpesa7s title after beating first-time finalists Daystar 20-10 to win the Kabeberi 7s. This marks their fourth consecutive Kabeberi Sevens win, 2022,2023, 2024 and now 2025.

Elvis Olukusi gave KCB the early lead with an unconverted corner post try before Vincent Onyala extended their lead with the second try. Moments later, Samuel Asati and Olukusi sealed off the 20-00 lead at the break. In the second half, it was more of a Daystar affair as the Kenya Sevens international Patrick Odongo had fans on their feet as they enjoy the race between him and Floyd at the wing but Patrick was faster. Just after the hooter went, Daystar’s Tonny Ogoma dotted down the last try of the match and with it, confirming KCB’s victory.

On their way to the Final, Daystar has been on a very good upward trajectory throughout the season and it fans were greatly impressed to see them qualify for their first-ever National Sevens Circuit final. They topped their Pool by beating the Catholic Monks 24-12, they saw Homeboyz off with a 15-07 win before sealing off their day with a 25-12 win over MMUST. KCB on the other hand kicked off their day with a 54-00 win over Mean Machine, survived a narrow scare from Nakuru by beating them 21-15 before wrapping up their day with a 31-00 win over Mombasa.

In the Cup Quarterfinals, KCB confirmed their slot in the semis after beating Mwamba 35-07 while Daystar edged out Menengai Oilers 24-19. There was evident difference from Kabras this weekend as they made it into the Cup semifinal after missing out in the last tournament, Monks continued with their exemplary performance by securing their Cup Quarterfinal. Impala bagged the 9th place category while Nakuru, Kisumu, Embu and Mean Machine finished off in positions 13 to 16.
