KENYA LIONESSES AND CUBS SQUADS UNVEILED FOR SAFARI7s 2025

Earlier today, acting Kenya Lionesses Head Coach Simon Odongo officially announced the squads that will represent Kenya in the upcoming 27th edition of the Safari7s, scheduled to take place from 10th – 12th October 2025 at the Nyayo National Stadium. The announcement featured both the senior women’s team, the Lionesses, and the development side, the Cubs.

Coach Odongo emphasized the importance of building squad depth while ensuring that both experience and youth are given equal opportunity. “Our aim is to create a strong balance within the playing group. The Lionesses bring invaluable experience while the Cubs represent the next generation of talent. We believe both teams will compete fiercely and proudly represent Kenya on home soil,” Odongo noted.

Kenya Lionesses Squad

The Lionesses squad is led by Sheila Chajira (Captain), supported by Freshia Awino (Vice-Captain). The team features a mix of tested internationals such as Janet Okello, one of the country’s most prolific players, and Naomi Amuguni, alongside exciting new inclusions like Charity Nillah, Faith Achieng, and Marvel Laura Oswago, who will all be making their debuts at Safari7s.

The team will be led by Ann Njeri (Captain), with leadership support from Maxine Abuga (Vice-Captain) and Maureen Chebet (Vice-Captain). Remarkably, nine players in the squad will be making their Safari7s debuts, underlining Kenya Rugby Union’s commitment to nurturing new talent and preparing the next generation of Lionesses.
