On Sunday 22nd June 2025, Kenya Morans finished fourth in Mauritius at the 2025 Africa 7s tournament after losing 19-21 to Zimbabwe.
They kicked off their day with a convincing 43-12 win over Nigeria in the morning. In the first half, Jackson Siketi, Denis Abukuse, and William Mwanji landed a try each with Siketi converting the first two. Nigeria landed a converted try right before Mwanji’s to bring the halftime scores to 19-5.
In the second half, George Ooro opened up the second half with a corner post try before Chrisant Ojwang rounded his defenders to land a converted center post try to bring the scores to 31-7. The young Javan Otieno spotted a gap in the Nigerian defense and quickly exploited it leaving his defenders to take Moran’s lead to 38-7.
Nigeria landed their second try but the conversion was unsuccessful before Denis Abukuse landed his brace and Morans final try, conversion was unsuccessful bringing the scores at full time to 43-12.
Morans second game was a narrow 12-14 loss to Madagascar, Captain Ojwang landed the only try in the first half. Second half Madagascar was hungrier as they scored two quick converted tries taking their lead to 14 before Morans landed their second try with Siketa adding the conversions.
With this loss, dropped to the Bronze match where they played Zimbabwe in the 2:53pm kick off match. Morans kicked of the match with a try from Chrisant Ojwang who dotted down barely two minutes into the match. Two minutes later, Denis Abukuse rounded his defenders to score a center post try that was converted by Jackson Siketi bringing the half time scores to 12-00.
Zimbabwe started off the second half with a converted corner post try reducing the gap to 12-7. Abukuse would then cut through the defenders to land Morans third try extending the lead to 19-7, however, things took a different turn as Zimbabwe landed two converted tries bringing the full time score to 19-21 in Zimbabwe’s favour.
