Kenya Rugby Union Hosts an Appreciation Breakfast to Honour 2024/2025 Season Sponsors
Earlier today, Kenya Rugby Union hosted a special appreciation breakfast in Nairobi to appreciate and celebrate the sponsors who have supported the Union throughout the 2024/2025 season. The event brought together partners whose contributions have played a crucial role in driving the success of the union on and off the field.
Speaking at the breakfast, KRU Chairperson Harriet Okach expressed profound gratitude to the sponsors, acknowledging their commitment during a transformative season for the Union. She highlighted that the 2024/2025 season has been marked by significant milestones most notably, Kenya hosting Africa Women’s Sevens Tournament in November for the first time ever.
“As we look ahead to hosting a global event of this magnitude, we are reminded that none of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our partners,” said Okach. “We urge our sponsors to continue walking this journey with us into the new season. Your dedication has shaped our success, and we are confident that the upcoming season will be even more exciting for Kenyan rugby.”
SportPesa Chief Commercial Officer, Jason Gibson, expressed immense pride in SportPesa’s role as the official sponsor of the Kenya Sevens team – Shujaa, applauding the team’s continued excellence and urging other partners to join hands in supporting the growth of rugby in the country.
Safaricom Money Transfer Limited CEO, Andrew Kabeke, also conveyed his pride in the outstanding performance of the Kenya Lionesses, noting that the team had delivered a spectacular season. He affirmed that M-Pesa remains committed to walking with the Kenya Rugby Union into the next season, reinforcing their long-standing support for women’s rugby and the sport at large.
Among the guests was James Mugo, the Finance Director of KCB Group and Chairman of the KCB Rugby Club. In his remarks, Mugo reaffirmed KCB’s commitment to the growth of rugby in Kenya, stating that the bank remains dedicated to supporting KRU in the coming season.
“KCB has a long-standing partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union, and we are proud of the progress made this season,” said Mugo. “We look forward to continuing this collaboration as we work together to elevate the sport and prepare for the global spotlight that the HSBC SVNS 2 will bring.”
