Kenya Rugby Union Set to Host Super Week 2025 from 9th – 11th May
The Kenya Rugby Union, in partnership with Rugby Afrique and World Rugby, is hosting Super Week 2025, a premier capacity-building event that brings together elite-level training courses aimed at growing and professionalizing rugby in Kenya and the region.
This year’s edition will take place from 9th to 11th May 2025 at Shalom House, Nairobi, and will feature four key development courses:
-
Strength and Conditioning (SNC) Course ( Level 2 )
Scheduled for 9th–11th May, this will be the third SNC course held in Kenya, with the last having taken place four years ago. Richard Ochieng and Geoffrey Kimani will lead the facilitation, with Denver Wannies, Master Trainer from Rugby Afrique, overseeing the sessions. Twelve participants, all drawn from the 15s leagues (Kenya Cup, Championship, and Nationwide), are expected to attend. -

Set for 9th and 10th May, the ICIR course will be conducted by James Ondiege and Gerald Omondi, targeting twelve participants also from the 15s leagues. The session will be overseen by Dr. Joseph Kalanzi, a World Rugby medical trainer. -
First Aid in Rugby (FAIR) ( Level 1 )
Taking place on 11th May, this important foundational course will be facilitated by the following educators; Christopher Makachia, Lamech Bogonko, Levyce Kityui, Phillemon Odidi and Joseph Kolli, under the supervision of Dr. James Ondiege. -
Activate/Injury Prevention Programme
Also on 11th May, this course will be led by Alex Agallo and Michael Shamiah, with a total of 25 participants, half of whom are Kenya Rugby Union Regional Development Officers. The practical segment of the session will be delivered in partnership with Kings Rugby Development Academy, with a view to cascading injury prevention knowledge throughout various rugby regions.
In addition to upskilling participants, Super Week 2025 will also serve as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for medical trainer James Ondiege and SNC trainer Richard Ochieng. Oversight for the week will be provided by Robert Bwali, Rugby Afrique’s Game Growth Manager for Anglophone countries. He and Denver Wannies will also be assessing Kenya U20 Head Coach – Simon Jawichre on his Level 3 part 1 (15s) Coaching.
Robert Bwali will also be running a union development review, that will include the CEO, Director of Rugby and KRU’s Devlopment staff.
