KENYA SELECTED TO HOST OPENING LEG OF HSBC SVNS 2

World Rugby has today officially confirmed that Kenya will host the opening leg of the HSBC SVNS 2, marking a historic achievement for the nation and the East African region. Set for 14th – 15th February 2026, the Nairobi tournament will ignite the second season of the restructured global sevens circuit, bringing premier international rugby action to Kenyan soil and placing the country firmly on the global rugby map.

This announcement positions Kenya as the first stop on the three-leg HSBC SVNS 2 calendar, with the subsequent rounds scheduled to take place in Brazil and Uruguay.

The Nairobi leg will feature thrilling competition across both the men’s and women’s divisions:

Men’s Division – confirmed competing Teams

  • Kenya

  • USA

  • Uruguay

  • Germany

These four teams will battle for early momentum in the chase for promotion, ensuring high-intensity clashes and a showcase of rising global rugby talent.

Women’s Division – confirmed competing Teams

  • Kenya Lionesses

  • Brazil

  • China

  • Spain

The women’s competition promises equally compelling matchups, as the Lionesses look to capitalize on home support against seasoned international opponents.
