On 8th July 2017, The Kenya Simbas set a new record after they registered their first ever 100 win over visiting Tunisia in the second Rugby Africa Gold Cup match for the hosts.

Tunisia who managed two unconverted tries why outmatched by the hosts in almost every aspect of the game. An attempt to take the guests on a 3 point lead failed as the penalty kick sailed wide. Kenya then turned up their moment as Jacob Ojee went over the whitewash taking Kenya on a 5 point lead; Mukidza added the extras and the scoreboard now read 7-0 in favour of Kenya. An infringement by Tunisia saw Kenya boot in 3 points through Darwin Mukidza.

Mukidza then added his personal tally to 12 points after he went over the try line for Kenya’s second try and added on the extras. 

Kenya would then add two tries and one conversion through David Ambunya and Eric Kerre before Tunisia registered their first try by Achref Ben Hamouda with the conversion sailing wide. Scoreboard now read 29-5 in favour of Kenya.

Samson Onsomu, Darwin Mukidza and Joshua Chisanga would all add on to Kenya’s tally with only one conversion splitting the posts. Moments before half time Ashraf Dhif brought the Tunisian score to 10 after he snuck in a try from a ruck. The conversion sailed wide and the scores at half time were 46-10.

At the restart of the second half, Davis Chenge, Tony Onyango and Leo Seje Owade placed their names in the score sheet as each of them scored a try with Mukidza converting the last two tries. Kenya was now leading 65-10.

Off the bench, Martin Owilla was quick on his feet taking Kenya to 70-10; Mukidza added the extras, Kenya was now leading 72-10. By the 73rd minute, Kenya had added 21 points from Steve Otieno, Eric Kerre and Darwin Mukidza as Mukidza added one conversion with Reserve player Kenny Andola adding the extra two. 

The crowd now chanting “mia moja mia moja” to mean “one hundred” the Simbas knocked on the Tunisian 5meter for about 5 minutes to no avail. In the dying minutes, a Kenyan scrum saw the ball flow through the backline to find Jacob Ojee who scored Kenya’s last try in this match. Scoreboard now reading 98-10, the stadium was pin drop silence as all eyes watched Andola as he prepared to boot in the highly coveted two points. As the ball rose in the air and it split the posts, the crowd was in uproar as they cheered their National Team that had for the first time in history registered a 100 score against an opposing side. The scoreboard at full time read 100-10. #SimbaNiMoja
