The journey to form the Kenya Under 18 National Rugby Team takes a decisive step this weekend as trials are set to be held on 30th and 31st August 2025 at the RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.

This follows the completion of successful regional trials across seven regions, alongside the international schools, which were recognized as the eighth region. From each of these regions, 33 players were selected, bringing together a pool of 240 student athletes who will now vie for places in the national setup.

Over the course of the two-day trials, the young talents will be evaluated through a carefully structured process. Day one will combine pitch training sessions and boardroom assessments, while day two will be dedicated fully to competitive matches. At the conclusion, a group of 60 standout players will be named to form the provisional Kenya Under 18 squad.

The selection process will be entirely data-driven, with coaches and selectors relying on performance metrics gathered during the games to make objective decisions.

Beyond player identification, the trials will also serve as a development platform for coaches, team managers, physiotherapists, and match officials. The exercise provides an opportunity for these stakeholders to enhance their expertise, exchange knowledge, and gain hands-on experience in managing and supporting high-performance youth rugby environments.
