Kenya and Zambia will face off in Victoria Cup action at 4.00pm at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday  24 August 2019.

This will be the fifth test between the two sides who first faced off at this very ground in September 1976, a clash that ended 23-9 to the Zambians against a Kenya side that was captained by Impala’s Roy Leask. That victory remains Zambia’s only win against Kenya to date.

The two sides again faced off at the RFUEA on 5 July 1980 with Mean Machine’s Jackson “Jacko” Omaido captaining Kenya to a 23-10 win on the day.

It would be 24 years before their next meeting, again happening at the RFUEA on 28 August 2004, the Thomas Odundo coached side under the captaincy of  Benjamin Ayimba cruising to a 33-10 win.

Fast forward 15 years later to their next clash, played in Kitwe, Zambia on 27 July 2019, the Simbas cruising to a 43-23 win over the Zambians in their first ever tour of Zambia.

It is interesting to note that Saturday’s clash against Zambia takes place at the RFUEA  14 years 361 days since their previous meeting at the same venue
