Kenya Lionesses topped Pool A at the end of the Women’s 7s Olympic Qualifiers after beating Ghana 36-0, Botswana 51-0 and Senegal 36-0. A performance that saw them ranked first in the 12-team format with a total tally of 121 points

The Ladies were on top form from the first match to the last, their defense was unbreakable as none of the three sides they met cut registered any score against the Felix Oloo charges. On attack, the Lionesses were unstoppable as they sliced through their opponents’ defense at will, the players match awareness was one to behold as they did not struggle to spot and create gaps before exploiting these chances to register these high scores.

The teams have stepped up. I’m very happy that all the teams are playing good rugby. In the

beginning we were sluggish, but we picked it up from the first game to the last game. Going forward,

we are looking at every game individually. We treat every game as if it were the final, they are

equally important. It won’t be easy,” said Oloo speaking to Rugby Africa, the tournament organizers.

As per the tournament rules, the top two teams in each Pool qualified for the Cup quarterfinals and were joined by two best thirds. Pool A had Kenya and Senegal, Pool B saw South Africa and Uganda go through while Madagscar and Tunisia were the top two sides in Pool C. Morocco and Zimbabwe were the tournament’s two best thirds.
