Their win set the tempo for what would become a day full of dominant displays.
Zambia followed with an emphatic 52–0 win over Burkina Faso, before Ghana lit up the pitch with a powerful 55–0 demolition of Côte d’Ivoire. Zimbabwe then wrapped up the opening round in style, seeing off Mauritius 29–5 in a lively contest.
The momentum carried into the second round, where Madagascar began with a confident 31–7 win over Egypt. Uganda then stepped onto the stage and wasted no time asserting themselves, cruising to a 47–0 victory against Burkina Faso. The home crowd soon had their moment as the Kenya Lionesses delivered a commanding 44–0 win. South Africa closed the round with the day’s biggest margin, overpowering Mauritius 68–0 to underline their title ambitions.
The final round of action brought tighter battles and heightened intensity. Madagascar narrowly edged Tunisia 21–14 in one of the most competitive matches of the day. Uganda continued their strong run with a hard-earned 20–14 win over Zambia, securing back-to-back victories. South Africa remained flawless, outclassing Zimbabwe 45–0 to maintain their perfect start.Kenya closed the day on a high, thrilling the home supporters once again with a dominant 37–0 victory that capped off an action-packed opening day in Nairobi.
With the group stages done , the quarterfinal lineup is set. Defending champions South Africa will open the charge against Ghana in Quarterfinal 1, while Madagascar one of the standout performers from Day One , face a resilient Zambia in Quarterfinal 2. Uganda and Tunisia will clash in Quarterfinal 3 in what is expected to be a tightly contested battle, before hosts Kenya Lionesses close out the round with a high-stakes encounter against Zimbabwe.
