Kenya started their Pool A campaign at the Tokyo Olympics with a 29-7 loss to New Zealand in the women’s rugby sevens competition in Tokyo on Thursday 29 July 2021.

New Zealand raced into a 17-0 lead through tries from Michaela Blyde who landed a brace in between Portia Woodman’s five pointer with Tyla Nathan-Wong adding a conversion.

A patient Kenya build up saw Christabel Lindo score a converted try under the posts for a 17-7 score at the interval.

The Black Ferns added two second half tries through Stacey Fluher and Gayle Broughton with Nathan-Wong adding another conversion.

Up next for the Lionesses is a match against the Russian Olympic Committee at 1.00pm EAT.
