Shujaa began their playoff pool fixtures at the London 7s with a 24-19 come from behind victory over Canada on Saturday afternoon at Twickenham.

Alex Russell put Canada ahead with a third minute try, Thomas Isherwood sure with the conversion for a 7-0 lead before Kevin Wekesa responded for Shujaa, Tony Omondi sure with the conversion to tie the scores at 7-7.

Russell and Wekesa traded tries but it was Omondi’s conversion that was the difference as Shujaa led 14-12 at the interval.

Max Stewart would pounce on a stray pass after the break, scoring under the posts with Isherwood converting for a 19-14 Canada lead but tries from Wekesa and Edmund Anya sealed the victory for Shujaa who next play Tonga at 4.59pm East African Time.
