Amara Unveiled As #Chipu’s Official 2019 Grooming Partner

Haco Industries was established in the early 1970’s as single-product manufacturer. From those modest beginnings, Haco is now one of the region’s leading FMCG manufacturers, supplying a wide range of products to the entire East African and COMESA Markets.

Amara, a byproduct of Haco Industries, has partnered with Kenya Rugby Union’s u20 Team, Chipu as their back of the shirt sponsor to the tune of Kshs. Two million. The sponsorship deal is mainly for the upcoming World Rugby U20 Trophy taking place in Sao Paolo, Brazil this July.

Chipu qualified for the Tournament for the second time in a decade after shutting the Africa U20 defending Champions Namibia out with a 21-18 win. The match was played at the KCB Sports Club Ruaraka on 7th April 2019.

“The sponsorship a very good thing as it shows that when results on the field are good then it attracts corporate sponsorships. It’s a great thing to see that corporates are confident in rugby, particularly the young people in the sport,” said Chipu Head Coach, Paul Odera.

“We hope that the partnership will be long term because Chipu is a team that changes yearly. A player can be in the set up for two or three years and then they are off to join Simbas or Shujaa. If we have a long term sponsor, it then helps us keep churning out players who join the senior sides,” added Odera.

“We appreciate Amara for joining the initiative to partner with Chipu by being the official grooming partner of the team to Brazil. This collaboration will go a long way in grooming our future stars and as part of the financial mobilization for the team as it prepares to represent Africa in the global arena,” said the Team Manager, Jimmy Mnene.

The Chipu technical team is committed to grooming the boys for the senior National Squads for the future and for International opportunities such as the World Rugby U20 trophy. They are keen to build on this relationship with Amara and the rest of the HACO portfolio.
