A 33-5 defeat to Great Britain saw Kenya drop to the seventh place final at the Dubai 7s on Saturday 27 November 2021.

Great Britain took the lead through Tom Williams’ converted try, but a patient build up saw Jeff Oluoch set up Alvin Otieno for Kenya’s response, Levi Amunga’s conversion veering just wide as two points separated the sides.

Tom Bowen’s high tackle on Amunga saw Great Britain penalized but Shujaa were unable to capitalize from the territorial advantage, Herman Humwa’s unforced error bringing the first half to a close, 7-5 in Great Britain’s favor.

Kenya’s strong start to the second half was countered by Great Britain’s Freddy Roddick’s incisive step, subsequent try and conversion, nine points the difference between the two sides.

The Europeans forced a turnover, Jamie Barden finding himself in possession, scoring under the posts with Roddick converting to stretch their lead. Bowen and Wil Trenholm confirming the result for the Britons with a tries at the death, Roddick adding one conversion to send Kenya to the seventh place final against Ireland at 3.31pm EAT.
