Vincent Onyala went over the whitewash thrice in to secure Shujaa’s win over Manu Samoa beating them 21-20.

It was Samoa who took the early lead through Melani Matavao and Tomasi Alosio try but Shujaa responded in the last two minutes through Vincent Onyala’s double. Johnstone Olindi added both conversions, giving his side the 14-10 lead.

In the second half, Laaloi Leilua took his side to the 15-14 lead as the conversion sailed wide but the lead was short lived as Charles Omondi’s offload set up Onyala to land his third try with Olindi’s conversion taking the scores to 21-15. Samoa’s attack saw them open up Shujaa’s defense line to score their fourth try taking the scores to 21-20 in favour of Shujaa. The Samoan conversion that all Kenyans dreaded sailed wide in Shujaa’s favour securing their first win of the tournament.

Earlier, a gallant Shujaa went down 24-17 to Fiji in their opening match, Shujaa’s tries coming from Bush Mwale’s brace and the third one from Jeff Oluoch.
