Shujaa exited the Singapore Sevens at the quarterfinal stage, going down 24-12 to South Africa. The South Africans led 17-0 at the break through tries from Siviye Soyizwapi’s brace in between Heino Bezuidenhout’s try, Cecil Afrika adding a conversion.

Afrika would then convert Soyizwapi’s third try  while Collins Injera responded with a brace for Shujaa, Sammy Oliech managing a solitary conversion.

They would then lose the fifth place semifinal  17-7 to New Zealand, collecting 10 points from this leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series, climbing to sixth place on the series log with 93 points.

Meanwhile, hosts England, France and the USA lay in wait for Shujaa in Pool C of the ninth round of the series, the London Sevens, taking place on 2/3 June.

Fiji are in Pool A with New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina while Australia headline Pool B with Spain, Wales and the guest team from Europe. Pool D has South Africa, Samoa, Canada and Russia.
