Kenya Sevens first string side for this year’s Tusker Safari Sevens, Shujaa, and South Africa’s Blitboks went unbeaten in the second day of the tournament.

Pool A:

Kenya Morans kicked off the action with a 24-10 win over the Uganda Cranes. They would later come close to upsetting the Blitzboks in their second encounter but a 5 meter knock on denied them this opportunity. Trailing 12-17 and as they were edging closer to the try line, Morans lost the ball forward denying themselves a try scoring opportunity. Their last Pool match however secured their slot in their Safari Sevens Cup quarters as they beat Burundi 52-00. Blitboks kicked off their day with a 61-00 win over Burundi in their opening match, they beat Morans 17-12 before surviving a Ugandan scare in their last Pool match where they beat them 19-17. Uganda and Burundi finished third and fourth respectively.

Pool B

Red Wailers started their day one on a high beating the defending Champions Samurai 19-5 in the second Pool B match. The first one ended in a 19-all stalemate between Western Province and Narvskaya Zastava. Wailers would suffer a 12-15 loss to Western Province in the second match but an eventual 19-12 win over Narvaskaya Zastava secured their qualification to the Cup quarterfinals. Samurai finished second with two wins; 33-14 over Narvskaya Zastava and 17-12 over Western Province.

Pool C

Shujaa registered three convincing wins in their Pool C encounters beating Zambia 31-00 in their first match, they would later on hand Russia Academy a 41-00 loss in the second match before wrapping up their day with a 21-7 win over South African based Blue Bulls. The performance earned Shujaa a top of Pool C finish followed by Russia Academy who registered a 24-24 draw against Blue Bulls, a 31-12 win over Zambia.`They however lost 00-41 to Shujaa. Zambia and Blue Bulls finished their day one third and fourth in the Pool as Zambia registered one win and two losses while Blue Bulls registered a draw and two losses.

Pool D

French Side Seventise Rugby and the Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit champions KCB stormed into the Cup quarters following a great day one performance.

Seventise won all their matches against Zimbabwe, Spain and KCB while the Bankers kicked off their day one with a 24-7 win over Spain, followed by a 19-12 win over Zimbabwe before falling 35-12 to Seventise. Spain registered a win over Zimbabwe in the last match of day one beating them 29-00.
