Head Coach Innocent Simiyu has named four debutants in the Shujaa squad for the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2021/2022 World Rugby Sevens Series in Singapore and Vancouver.

The four are former Kenya U20 international Richel Wangila, Zeden Marrow, Collins Shikoli and Ben Salem. Wangila, Marrow and Shikoli are part of the travelling party to Singapore while Salem will link up with the team in Vancouver alongside Alvin Otieno and Timothy Mmasi.

Commenting after the squad announcement, Simiyu said, “We are in a very competitive pool in Singapore and we obviously want to improve on our performances from the last outing in Spain. The focus is to qualify from the pool. “

“Our key focus for this month is the World Cup qualifier. We believe that we have prepared well enough for Singapore and Vancouver and to be able to qualify for the World Cup. Our training has been on areas that have been an achilles heel and starting from Singapore, We hope that we can start finding the consistency that we need going forward,” he added.
