The Inaugural Kakamega7s kicked off at 9:00am at the Bull Ring with Resolution Impala Saracens taking on Menengai Oilers with Sarries securing a 17-10 win. Menengai Cream Homeboyz beat the hosts 26-5 before Nondies survived a Mean Machine scare beating them 7-5.

Stanbic Mwamba, Kabras Sugar RFC and KCB bagged comfortable wins over their opponents Kisumu RFC, Kisii RFC and Masinde Muliro University beating them 38-0, 21-5 and 36-10 respectively.

Strathmore Leos snatched a win from the Kenya Harlequins beating them 26-14. The Leos were trailing 12-14 with 5 minutes left on the clock they cut through the Quins’ defense twice and landed center post tries on both occasions securing their win. Top Fry Nakuru wrapped up the first round of matches with a strong 41-7 win over the Egerton Wasps.

In the second round of matches, Resolution Impala Saracens, Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Nondies, Stanbic Mwamba, KCB and Top Fry Nakuru secured their Cup quarterfinal slots with a match at hand. Kenya Harlequins dropped to the Challenge Trophy having lost their first two matches as they waited to meet Nakuru in the last pool match.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and the Strathmore Leos stormed into the Kakamega7s Cup quarterfinals after winning two of their three pool matches. They join the quarterfinal regulars list comprising of defending Champions Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC, Top Fry Nakuru, Resolution Impala Saracens, Nondies, Stanbic Mwamba and KCB. Kenya Harlequins had a bad day in office as they lost all their pool matches finishing fourth in their pool while Kabras finished third in their pool, both dropping to the Challenge trophy.

At the end of the first day, Pool C log leaders KCB were docked all their points for fielding an ineligible player in the three matches they played. This saw them drop to the Challenge Trophy with Kabras moving up to the cup quarterfinal.
