Top Fry Nakuru Ladies closed in on the Impala Saracens Ladies in the ongoing Women 7s Festival on the table standings this week after winning the Northern Suburbs Women 7s played on Sunday 25th August. They secured a 12-10 victory over Impala Saracens Ladies at KCB sports club, a win that saw them reduce the gap between them and Impala Saracens Ladies to just three points.

Impala Saracens have been consistent throughout the three festivals, winning both the #Kabeberi7s and #Prinsloo7s editions and finishing as runners up in the third festival. It has been a seesaw affair between Impala Saracens and Top Fry Nakuru who have met in the three finals, with the last two final games ending far too close for comfort for their fan’s. Impala Saracens ladies are the favourites to seize the Women 7s 2019 Festival glory however, Top Fry Nakuru still have a great chance of lifting the overall trophy.

Should the latter win the fourth and final leg of the festival and Impala finish second, the two will have tied with 82 overall points and all will be to play for in the fifth and final leg. Whoever prevails at Christies edition this weekend will take 22 points, with 19 points going to the runners-up, so it really could come down to the finest of margins for Impala Saracens and Top Fry Nakuru if they make it to the final.

Both teams will be battling it out against revamped sides who will be boosted by the return of the Lionesses to their teams. Impala Saracens now leads the way on 63 points and Top Fry Nakuru are on 60. Northern Suburbs are on 46. Menengai Cream Homeboyz complete the top four with 31 points, and Stanbic Mwamba is fifth-placed on 28. Northern Suburbs, Menengai Cream Homeboyz, and Stanbic Mwamba could still prevail if both teams above them utterly flop, but by the look of things, that is highly unlikely. The final leg will take place at impala club on the 14th of September where for the first time the matter of crowning a historic Women 7s series champion will be decided.
