Martin Owilah

Martin Owilah put in a man of the match performance, landing a try as the Simbas romped to a 67-0 win over Tunisia in Rugby Africa Gold Cup action at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday 11 August 2018.

Owilah was a livewire from the backrow, putting up an all round performance on the day.

Willy Ambaka gave the home side to a bright start, scoring the opening try on his debut with Darwin Mukidza converting for a 7-0 score. Cheeky play from Samson Onsomu set up Davis Chenge to ground the ball, Mukidza sure with the extras to double the scores.

Mukidza would then convert tries from Andrew Chogo, Jacob Ojee’s long range effort and Elkean Musonye’s opportunistic try to give the hosts a 35-0 lead before pouncing on a loose ball to score and see his team take a 40-0 lead into the interval.

Unconverted second half tries from Owilah and Peter Karia saw the Simbas hit 50 points before debutant Mohamed Omolo, a second half replacement for Onsomu scored and converted for a 57-0 lead. Tony Onyango and Ambaka would score in quick succession, securing the result against an opponent who never threatened over the eighty minute duration of this outing.
