The Rugby Super Series has received a significant boost with a Ksh. 4 million commitment from mobile operator Jamii Telecom (JTL).

Speaking at the partnership signing ceremony in Nairobi on Wednesday, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Chairman Sasha Mutai hailed the deal as a testament to the growing confidence in the union’s management, a factor likely to attract more corporate sponsors.

“We extend our gratitude to JTL, particularly Faiba Mobile, for their partnership. Their support underscores their belief in our mission to elevate rugby to new heights,” stated Mutai.

Out of the Ksh. 4 million sponsorship, Ksh. 1.5 million will be provided to the Union in cash, while the remainder will be allocated to branding, with JTL’s Faiba brand featuring on the jerseys of the Rhinos team, internet connectivity, and merchandising for the Rugby Super Series.

This marks the second occasion of JTL’s involvement in supporting rugby, having sponsored the Safari Sevens last year. Mutai expressed satisfaction with JTL’s commitment to rugby in the country and indicated ongoing discussions for a long-term partnership, given their confidence in the Union.

Mutai emphasized the significance of the Series’ return, believing it will bring out the best in participating players. As Kenya’s most prestigious rugby tournament, it aligns with the Union’s objectives for the sport, both in the short and long term.
