Defending champions Shujaa finished top of Pool A as curtains fell on day two of the 21st Edition of the Safari Sevens.

The tournament kicked off with the Ladies matches as The Lionesses thrashed the Emerging Cranes 42-5 before the Lady Cranes handed the Kenya Club Select a 20-5 loss in the first round.

The men’s tournament went live at 10:00am as the 2016 finalists Samurai bagged their first win as they beat Red Wailers 29-5. In this first round of the men’s matches, Spain, Kenya Morans, Portugal, Apache and Kenya Shujaa all walked away with a win in their respective matches.

Round two of the women’s matches saw Kenya Lionesses beat the Lady Cranes 27-00 as the Kenya Club Select beat the Emerging Cranes 17-5.

At exactly 1300hrs, Samurai kicked off the second round of men’s matches where they walked a 50-7 win over Uganda II. Spain scooped their second win of the tournament as they beat the Red Wailers 21-14 before the Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit Champions Homeboyz RFC beat Uganda 24-10. The last three matches in this round saw Morans secure their second win after beating Portugal 12-5. Mwamba RFC lost 5-24 in the hands of Namibia before Shujaa unforgivingly beat Apache 40-0 as they wrapped up this round.

The third round of the women’s matches was a Country affair as Lady Cranes beat their juniors Emerging Cranes 22-0 before Kenya Lionesses handed the Kenya Club Select a 0-50 loss.

As we wrapped up the day two matches, Samurai snatched a win from Spain as a last minute try from Frank Wanyama handed Samurai a 19-14 win. This was after Red Wailers bagged their first win of the tournament as they beat Uganda II 29-10.  In a local affair, Kenya Morans beat Homeboyz 24-7 before Mwamba secured their first win of the day as they beat Apache 26-12.

Shujaa against Namibia was the last match of the day and Shujaa did not leave anything to doubt as they beat Namibia 38-12.

Day three of the Safari sevens kicks off at 10:00AM with the 9th to 12th place ranking matches.
