Kenya Simbas centre Samwel Ovwamu continues to build his rugby career, taking strides both on and off the field as he develops into a key figure in Kenya’s rugby setup.
Ovwamu, who currently plays for Menengai Oilers, started his rugby journey at Vihiga Boys High School before moving to Daystar Falcons, where he spent four years refining his game. His steady rise through the ranks is a testament to hard work, resilience, and a commitment to growth.
“It’s an incredible honor to be part of the Simbas squad. Wearing the national jersey means everything to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” says Ovwamu.
Recently, he spent a month training in South Africa, an experience he describes as transformative. “Playing with different clubs pushed me to grow as a player. The intensity and discipline there really challenged me in the best way,” he reflects.With his focus now firmly on the future, Ovwamu remains motivated to continue improving, eager to contribute to Kenya’s rugby journey in every way he can.
