Shujaa closed out the Hong Kong leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series with a 13th place semifinal 10-19 defeat to hosts Hong Kong China at the Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday morning.

Unconverted tries from Alvin Otieno and Jeff Oluoch were not enough as the hosts landed thrice through Seb Brien’s brace and Russell Webb’s solitary effort with Webb managing a conversion for a famous result against Shujaa.

The team had earlier lost 12-26 to Samoa in the 9th place quarter final. Otieno and George Ooro landing for Shujaa with Tony Omondi managing a conversion as the Samoans scored through Tuna Tuitama (2), Paul Scanlan and Faaoi Falaniko with Neueli Leitufia, Scanlan and Malo Luteru each adding a conversion.

The result saw Shujaa remain 13th overall with 30 points heading into the Singapore round on 8-9 April where they will play out of Pool C which also features France, USA and Uruguay.
