Shujaa kicked off their USA7s campaign on 2nd March at 3:50 against the hosts at the Sam Boyd Stadium. Carlin Isles was first to register tries for his side as he landed to tries in quick succession, missing one conversion and successfully adding the other. A penalty against the Eagles saw Shujaa take the ball wide into Jacob Ojee’s hands for him to score the first try at the stroke of half time. Conversion sailing wide, Shujaa trailed 5-12.

Second half had the hosts score two more tries as Stephen Tomasin swung through the Kenyan defense and dotted down right next to the posts. Madison Hughes scored the Eagles last try after he went round Shujaa to score at the corner. Both conversions were successful.

Vincent Onyala peeled off one defender and dashed for the try line, fending off an oncoming defender on his way to score Shujaa’s second and final try in this match. Conversion sailed wide Shujaa losing 10-26. They play France at 6:29am EAT in the second pool match and Argentina later in the day at 11:58pm.
