Michelle Sinaida Aura has called time on her rugby career. The Northern Suburbs and Kenya Lionesses flier announced her retirement on Thursday 4 February 2021 through her social media handles.
Sinaida, who until her retirement was a regular for the Lionesses sevens and fifteens teams wrote, ” In the last 6 years that I have played rugby I’ve been honored to represent Kenya, I have made new friends some of whom have now become family. I have gotten opportunities and been to places i could only imagine and i wouldn’t trade any of it for anything.
“Saying goodbye to the sport, is tough, hard, and is going to be a big change for me, but a challenge that I’m excited about and i look forward to.”
“I have been lucky to have exceptionally brilliant and strong people behind me moreso my wonderful husband who has been there literally through thick and thin since my journey in the sport begun and I’m thankful we both have peace of mind over this decision.”
“Today, I want to enjoy my decision and celebrate it. I want to thank everyone who I ever played with or against and who was ever in an organization that I was part of, whether as an individual athlete, Club level athlete or National team athlete.”
Commenting on her retirement, Lionesses Head Coach Felix Oloo said, ” “Sinaida’s retirement is a big blow, we’ll miss her.”
