Following an exciting day one of the #Embu7s tournament, the quarterfinals have now been confirmed as teams prepare for Day two of what promises to be electrifying rugby action at the Njukiri Showground.
Menengai Oilers, KCB, Kenya Harlequin, and Strathmore Leos continue with their Cup quarterfinal qualification in four tournaments. They are joined by Kabras Sugar, Nakuru RFC, Daystar Falcons and MMUST Rugby in the Embu 7s Cup quarterfinals.
In the Challenge Trophy quarterfinals, Mwamba will face Stallions in the opening match of the men’s category, Nondies will then face off against Catholic Monks. Impala RFC will be facing the hosts Embu Rugby before the university derby between Zetech Oaks and Mean Machine wraps up the Challenge Trophy Quarters.
In Pool A, KCB finished top of the Pool after going unbeaten on day one while Daystar Falcons came in second with two wins and one loss. Strathmore Leos topped Pool B as Kabras Sugar came in second, Nakuru based sides Menengai Oilers and Nakuru RFC secured their Embu 7s cup quarterfinal confirmation in Pool C. MMUST Rugby stood out with a top of the Pool performance, going on to secure three victories in Pool D and they were joined by Kenya Harlequin FC.
The Sportpesa National Sevens Circuit continues to showcase the immense talent within the country as different teams compete across the country. Each Division One winner is assured of 100,000/- cash prize, runner’s up get 50,000/- while the Bronze medalist walks away with 25,000/-. Division Two winners get 50,000/- while the winners and runners up in the women’s category are assured of 70,000/- and 30,000/- respectively.
