The 2019 Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit makes a stop at the RFUEA Grounds this weekend for the Christie7s. For the first time in four years, the tournament will also have the Women’s 7s matches running concurrently with the Division One Men’s matches.

When Stanbic Bank renewed their partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union, they announced the introduction of prize money for the overall circuit winners in both Division One and Two as well as the #Christie7s Women Champion who is assured of Kshs. 100,000 prize money.

The first edition of the Christie7s Women’s tournament was played in 2015 and it featured three teams: KCB- now known as the Northern Suburbs Ladies, Top Fry Nakuru and Kenya Harlequins with the Bankers emerging victorious. This KCB side was a combination of 3 Mwamba players (Catherine Abila, Sinaida Aura and Camilyne Oyuayo) and KCB players.

The Kenya Harlequins ladies’ team was dissolved in 2016 with the bulk of players forming the current Homeboyz Ladies Team. In the same duration, COMRAS ladies team as well as the Impala Ladies have come of age and made a name for themselves in the Women’s competitions.

The 2019 edition will see Top Fry Nakuru, Stanbic Mwamba Ladies and Menengai Cream Homeboyz face off in Pool A while Pool B comprises of series leaders Impala Ladies, Northern Suburbs Ladies and COMRAS.
