High School student Lawrence Ishuga embarks on a groundbreaking journey when the third round of the National Sevens Circuit, the Prinsloo Sevens, kicks off at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday 23 September 2017.

The 16 year student, form three student at Nakuru Day Secondary School, where he is  has been listed in the panel of  division two match officials for the two day tournament. He got involved with rugby six years ago as a player at the New Life School and was part of the TourAid U13 team that visited the United Kingdom a few years back.

His appointment is an almost unheard of feat given the fact that many of his peers would probably be jostling for positions on their representative school teams, watching the game from the sidelines or just engaged in routine teenage activity.

Ishuga comes highly rated, as illustrated by long serving match official and Nakuru rugby aficionado, Lameck Ongati, who says, “ Ishuga has come through the ranks, following through from the I also play referee  element of the Get Into Rugby program. He has embraced match officiating fully and continues to impress. He has attended officiating courses in Nakuru and Nairobi and possesses the temerity of referees way older than him. He will also start officiating schools fixtures in Nakuru, as well as conduct sessions with clubs within Nakuru. His future is bright.”
